Late last summer, as wedding season was still in full swing and the leaves on the trees were hinting at beginning to change color I met up with stylist and wedding coordinator Shelby of the Day’s Design. For weeks Shelby had been putting together a styled photo shoot with southern inspirations as the driving force. Thoughtfully, Shelby wondered just why as vendors we put together these stunning set-ups but no one in real life ever gets to enjoy the beauty until the photos come back. That is when it struck her to invite real women, who could use a fun night out to get dressed up and enjoy a meal, pretty dresses and sweet sips. The craziness of finishing up photos, sending out client orders and being a mama has meant that this beautiful session has been sitting on my computer for more months than I care to share with you. But finally, here it is!
This authentic dinner party took place in a marshy state park in Holland, Michigan. Shelby envisioned and pieced together every element including the floral arrangements. Each guest got to take home a small bud vase with a few blooms! Dinner was an amazing spread of salmon, rice and fingerling potatoes made by Shelby’s husband who just happens to be a chef. I sampled the food and I have to say, it was pretty amazing. Dishes and rentals were provided by West Michigan Rental Co. and calligraphy menus and place cards were done by Whimsy and Wild. The fun Michigan shaped Pie and other fruit pies were made by Ed Dunneback and Girls Farm and they were just as delicious as they look!
