Things have been a little quiet around here lately and it has a lot to do with our big news— this July (the very last week!) We will be welcoming a second little Slater to our family! We still can hardly believe it ourselves, if it wasn’t for the total and inexplicable PURE exhausted state that I have been in for the past 3 months. I will be heading into the second trimester this week and thankfully and starting to feel a little better now! This is a huge blessing, and even though I had to do a lot of last minute wedding cancelling and workshop date shifting, we are beyond thrilled! To be honest, this time around is going so much faster than when I was pregnant with Caleb. I suppose having a busy toddler underfoot will do that!
There is not much to report, but here is the skinny on weeks 1-12!
– No morning sickness. I was pretty lucky with Caleb too and never really got anything more than tiny bouts of nausea and it seems to be the same with this baby so far. I did get really ill on Christmas with the flu, and then sinus infection and double ear infection. I am STILL on an antibiotic trying to get rid of it. Having lupus (read: sucky immune system) and then being pregnant (read: an even lower immune system) and I have just been having the worst time kicking this thing!
-I have gained maybe 1/2-1 pound but am not showing yet. I am still comfortably in my regular clothes which is nice although a do get a little bloated after dinner and you can definitely tell that something is happening there
-I started the pregnancy project workout dvd’s by tracy anderson and am eating really healthy. I gained almost 50 pounds with Caleb and I am determined to keep it under control this time and not eat any/everything in my path and use the excuse of “I’m pregnant!” Mornings are eggs, spinach and tomatoes or granola cereal, at lunch I have been craving shrimp/salmon/grilled chicken salads and have been having those in different combinations. Dinner is a toss up, but a veggie and protein. Snacks are fruit or raw veggies throughout the day along with more water than I can tell you. So far, this is working for me and I can only hope I maintain this resolve throughout the entire pregnancy!
-We have seen the baby 3 times so far. The first time you couldn’t see anything, the second time was a yolk sac and the third time we finally saw a teeny tiny-kinda human shaped blob.
-Heart rate has been consistently in the high 160’s. Any guesses on gender?!
-Right now I am trying to decide between a vbac or c-section. I think I have made up my mind and might post about my decision and why…. but I am not quite sure anyone really cares that much so I might keep the decision making process to myself!
-Caleb is learning to say ‘baby!’ and it is so cute. I can’t believe we will have two under two this year! EEK!
